Inland Empire Bound!

In October, we will be foregoing the beautiful fall season in New England

and traveling to the Inland Empire region of Southern California! We will be missing all the talk and discussions of "pre-peak", "peak" and "past-peak" color and the constant parade of "leaf-peepers" around Central Massachusetts. We will also miss the endless array of roadside pumpkin stands that seem to pop up everywhere in the weeks just prior to Halloween. Why are we leaving and missing the fall spectacle? We need the warm weather!

Here in New England, the long awaited summer months end when the leaves start changing. You can already see lonesome branches of yellow or orange among the sea of green leaves. The swamp maples are the first to change and are almost in full color. But we know that at the end of October, usually around Halloween, we will get a few days of rain and the winds will blow and turn the New England canvas to grey. This begins the long and COLD New England winter. Again we need the warm weather! You know how the song goes: "It Never Rains in Southern California".

We will be staying in Riverside with our cousin for three weeks. Our son is coming for the first week. None of us have ever been to SoCal and are excited about experiencing the desert heat (Its a "dry heat" they always say LOL!). Its not supposed to be like our New England hot and humid heat, but we will see if we like it. Stay Tuned.
