We're Baaaack!

Got back last night after an hour delay in Denver.  Had to change planes after all.  Ours was broken! Rest of the journey was uneventful.  Elly is really glad to be back home.

Auto Shipping! Check!

Tonight the auto shipping company came and picked up the car.  I had thought that the 10 car transporter would show up, but instead a single car came to take the car to the yard to meet the large transporter.  Its a good thing because the large transporter would not have made it down street!  Its a small cul-de-sac with no space to turn around.   The shipping company is from Walpole, MA, a long way from home!

This worked out really well for us because we did not have to leave and drive anywhere to meet the truck in a safe loading area.  When the car gets back home I am sure we will have to meet the transporter somewhere in Sterling or West Boylston.

Now its our turn to head back east on Saturday.  Brrrrrrr!  It was 65 degrees here today and the natives were freezing!

All Packed & On The Road

This morning we went back to the condo to get the rest of our stuff and finish securing our load and putting up the "wall".  I called the trucking dispatch and they came and picked up the trailer.  Our stuff is on the way home before we are.

The Bulkhead wall halfway installed
The wall installed. Our stuff is behind the wall.
After the trailer was picked up, we finished getting our things, cleaned up a little, returned the keys to the landlord, turned in our auto transponder and said our goodbyes to our neighbors.  We then headed to Riverside.  The car should get picked up on Thursday, hopefully no drama there.

Moving Day!

Today is moving day.  Everything is packed. The Truck is here!

Stuff in the Garage

Ramp to he truck

Empty truck, ready to be filled

Empty truck in driveway.
We are just waiting for the laborers to arrive at noon.

Update 1 at 2:00:  Well noon came and went, 1:00 came and went, after 4 text messages and calls to a full voice mail, we gave up hope.  This is weird because I had just talk to him last night and everything was good to go at noon today!  Plan B is to call two other movers that we used in the past year and arranged to have one of them here asap.  Hopefully we can everything loaded tonight.  More Updates coming.

Update 2 at 4:30:  Finally received a text message from the "no-show" movers.  He said he was pulled over last night for a traffic violation and was thrown in jail for an outstanding bench warrant for another traffic violation! He was just let out of jail and apologized profusely. Only in California!

Update 3 at 7:00:  Plan B worked! Paul's Movers showed up at 5:00 and packed the truck in 2 hours. Done by 7:00, wine time at our neighbors before heading to Riverside. What a day.  Pictures of the loaded truck tomorrow.

It's Winter in Los Angeles

Winter in LA. Below Freezing at night.
Its a real harsh winter out here in Southern California (lol) , it gets below freezing at night (omg)!  The natives are cold and getting restless for the 70 degree weather.  They really don't like it a bit. At these temperatures, the Uggs are everywhere.  It's scarves, hats, gloves and winter jackets for everyone. To us its just like spring, but it appears it will warm up late this week.  It should be nice for packing to truck on Monday.

Last day to pack up things. Busy, busy, busy!

"Mm I'm movin out Mm oo oo uh huh mm hm"

We are packing up and moving out soon.  We have had loads of fun in California during the past year, but we think its time to go home now.  We have learned a lot about ourselves and the people in California. We will miss all the relatives and friends that we reconnected with, friends that we made anew and all the antique dealers, pickers and estate sale owners that we have have come in contact with.  One thing we won't miss is the traffic, the general lack of quietness and the "golden hills of California" (brown dirt).

The living room and dining room are now vacant, except for the TV and a chest of drawers.

This is our Living Room now
All of our belongings are boxed and stored in the garage patiently awaiting the moving trailer on Monday.  I will post moving day pictures after we are finished packing the trailer. We have mixed emotions about the next two weeks. We are sad to be leaving, but anxious to be back home.  Our year of adventures in California is ending.
